On 9th April, 2008, Guardian.co.uk announced that an Xbox game ad was banned by the Advertising Standards Authority on the ground of showing excessive violence in their ads. According to the news:
“The ASA has ordered the game's publisher, Eidos Interactive, not to print or broadcast any of the ads again after upholding 26 complaints and ruling that the poster was "graphic and too shocking to be seen in an untargeted medium".”
Video or computer games, which is also called the ‘second life’ as per the terms of social networking sites, are increasingly using violence as their USP have penetrated deep into the markets.
Now the growing concern is – with so much violence all around us, isn’t this yet another drastic approach to spreading more animosity and malice across different sections of people?
